Dussehra

Arrived back in India after a two hour delay at London Heathrow to the Indian festival of Dussehra,  one of the most important Indian festivals celebrated by Hindus. It is the celebration of Lord Rama over Ravana. Many of the houses and businesses have these colourful artwork designs on the pavements. These are made freehand usually using some form of coloured chalk. The accuracy of the artwork is amazing and the colours vivid. However they barely last more than 24 hours and less if it rains! During the evening the families come out to enjoy an evening of food, sweets and entertainment and everywhere seems to be lit with coloured lights
